Nurlayli Ramadhanty M.Baba "Study of Fungal Growth in Alternative Media of
Breadfruit (Artocarpus altilis) Varieties Through Ear Cerumen for Elderly in Social
Rehabilitation Institutions (PSRS) for the Elderly of North Maluku Province (Supervised by
Erpi Nurdin)
Background: Growth media is an important thing to study the nature of microorganisms
such as fungi that can include nutrients, energy sources and certain environmental
conditions A medium to be able to grow microorganisms properly must have an
appropriate pH, the media does not contain inhibitory substances, the media must be
stent, and the media must contain all nutrients that are easily digestible. use
microorganisms PDA semi-synthetic media has sufficient carbohydrate content so that it
is used for fungal growth. However, the price of this media is quite expensive besides that
not all chemical stores provide it, while the need for PDA media is increasing so that an
alternative is needed to replace the mushroom culture media. Objective: To find
alternative media to replace PDA (Potato Dextosa Agar) to grow mushrooms. The sample
method used in this study was Maitara breadfruit and Ternate breadfruit. for clinical trials
using ear cerumen using accidental sampling technique, so sampling by choosing who
happened to be present/meet at the time of the study Results: The results showed fungal
growth on Alternative Media Breadfruit extract (Artocarpus altilis) Maitara varieties, the
average fungal growth was 2 colonies. /media, Alternative Media Breadfruit (Artocarpus
altilis) extract of Ternate varieties has an average growth of 1 colon/media and a semi-
synthetic Potato Dextrose Agar with an average fungal growth of 1 colonies/media. The
fungal species obtained were Candida sp and Aspergillus sp. Conclusion: Conclusion :
Sukun (Artocarpus altilis) Maitara and Ternate varieties can be used as an alternative
media of fungal growth. The alternative medium of Maitara varieties of 2 colonies/media
is better in growing fungus in the banding of varieties Ternate
